ASI’s first ever Art Exhibition began on the 7th of April 1922, at The Sir J. J. School of Art. It was inaugurated by the Dean of the School, Capt. Gladstone Solomon. The show remained on display for fifteen days. People thronged to see the art works.
The Society has ever since held large scale exhibitions annually. It continues its efforts till date to promote budding painters, sculptors and other visual artists. It provides them encouragement by sponsoring awards and publicity. The ASI annual exhibition is one of the most prestigious events for visual artists in India.
